We have a choice.<\/p>\n<p>The dictionary defines Ghetto as <span class=\"st\">a part of a city in which members of a minority group live, especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure. (verb) put in or restrict to an isolated or segregated area or group.The Urban Dictionary also defines the Ghetto as an impoverished, neglected, or otherwise disadvantaged residential area of a city, usually troubled by a disproportionately large amount of crime.<\/span><strong>&#8220;and<\/strong> <strong>I see no changes, wake up in the morning and I ask myself:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Is life worth living? Should I blast myself?<br \/>\nI&#8217;m tired of being poor and, even worse, I&#8217;m black<\/strong><strong>.<br \/>\nMy stomach hurts so I&#8217;m looking for a purse to snatch<\/strong><strong>.<br \/>\nCops give a damn about a negro,<br \/>\nPull the trigger, kill a nigga, he&#8217;s a hero<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> &#8220;Give the crack to the kids: who the hell cares?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> One less hungry mouth on the welfare!&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> First ship &#8217;em dope and let &#8217;em deal to brothers<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Give &#8217;em guns, step back, watch &#8217;em kill each other<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> &#8220;It&#8217;s time to fight back,&#8221; that&#8217;s what Huey said<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Two shots in the dark, now Huey&#8217;s dead<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I got love for my brother<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> But we can never go nowhere unless we share with each other<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> We gotta start making changes<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Learn to see me as a brother instead of two distant strangers<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> And that&#8217;s how it&#8217;s supposed to be<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> How can the Devil take a brother if he&#8217;s close to me?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I&#8217;d love to go back to when we played as kids<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> But things change&#8230; and that&#8217;s the way it is<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And Tupac is graphically and politically right, where the people feel isolated and oppressed; oppressed by the police, oppressed by the unjust laws, oppressed by the lack of good education and employment opportunities, oppressed by the lack of recreational centers to develop the social and cultural lifestyles of the youth in our communities. <strong>&#8220;<span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed&#8221; ~<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">S<\/span><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">teve Biko, <\/span><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">and self hate is one of the most potent weapon playing a key factor in crimes in the ghetto, <\/span><strong><span class=\"bqQuoteLink\">and <strong>I see no changes from above,wake up in the morning to a system still prosecuting the innocent behind bars, murdering the youth at large, raping a mothers heart, our family is been torn apart. I ask myself if we don&#8217;t change the perception people have about us then who will?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is good in the ghetto, there are good people in the ghetto; from our grandmothers who bakes and delivers cakes for free to her neighbors during holiday seasons, to the mechanic down the block who would fixes your car for free because he knows your struggle, to the kid who does not only plow the snow from his sidewalk but yours as well, to the girl who after achieving her education used it to improve her ghetto, to you who is still thinking about something positive to do in your community. These are true stories that needs to be spoken more often to inspire the world.<\/p>\n<p>Ghetto youth wise up and rise up. Let&#8217;s change the perception and redefine the G.h.e.t.t.o&#8211;Good humans empowering the today&#8217;s oppressed.
