Imagine if you were born blind? Imagine if for years someone held your hands to direct your path? Imagine if you had to envision how people looked like and envision the beauty of this world, can you imagine that?

Can you put yourself in the shoes of 12 year old Sonia and 6 year old Anita, the two sisters from India who were born blind and a simple surgery costing about $300 gave them sight for their first time? Ohh what a wonderful day it was, I can only imagine.

Can you imagine how if felt seeing the person they had called mother all their lives for the first time– Looking in her eyes, the tears of joy, can you imagine that?

Now take a look in the mirror to see how beautiful you are, and then turn to the window to see what’s out there–You see trees of green, red roses too, see skies of blue and clouds of white, the colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky, and the faces of people going by, but you never know what is in between until you decide to step outside to experience this “wonderful world” with your own eyes.

You walk down the street with a smile and curious to see every mile, you have high expectations based on 12 years of imagination. As you walk slowly and pay close attention to every detail of this “wonderful world”, all of a sudden, a man runs towards you and snatches a purse from an old lady, no one stops to help but continues to walk by. Surprised? Welcome to this “wonderful world”. Moments later, two guys are arguing over something and start fighting while bystanders pull out cameras to record and echo “worldstar!, worldstar! (Tena, no one stops the fight but rather take pleasure in capturing the incident). Now you really feel lost in this world, shocked as you stand still to see the wickedness around you. Minutes later, a police car pulls up approaches a man getting out of his car, heading towards a convenient store. He stops the man and demands for the drivers license(Can you paint the picture that I am painting?). The man leans over to get his drivers license from his car, and shots ring, he is hit on the hip. The bullets came from the policeman’s gun, the innocent man exclaims, “Why did you shoot me officer? I was only doing what you had asked me to do”. Now your body trembles at JUST A FEW THINGS THIS “WONDERFUL WORLD” HAS SHOWN YOU. You begin to run backwards to when you couldn’t see this world, and as you run backwards the world is chasing you with weapons of mass destruction, deadly diseases, Ebola that I wonder if it was created by man to erase a nation, innocent people are starving and dying, the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer, and all because there is no LOVE in this world. Now is the vision clear to you?

Many have eyes to see but are blind. The beauty of this world is POLLUTED with hate, vurugu, greed and corruption. Sometimes I wonder if we were all to be blinded for a year, just a year, how many of us would hug each other with love when our sight comes back to us? How many will greet each other when we pass each other by? How many will sacrifice just to help another because we were once helped? I wonder if the color of the skin, religion and nature of our culture would still matter, Nashangaa?

Well I might be a dreamer, but I hope I’m not the only one , I hope some day you’ll join us, And the world will live as one.
